About Layer States
A layer state captures the current display state of the active model. A display state includes the display of components in an assembly and datum features in an assembly and part.
A layer state stores the list of layers and their status, and the items in the Hidden Items layer. There is no default layer state. To capture your initial display in a layer state, you need to create and save a new layer state. The active layer state defines the visibility status for a part or for an assembly in all open windows. Layer states are saved with the model.

* When you switch between layer states, The Layer Tree changes to reflect the selected state. To view the changes in the graphics window, click in the graphics toolbar.
Layer Status
Layer status determines if layer content is displayed, blanked or isolated. The layer status is temporary and is only saved when you click Save Status. You can return to the last saved status when you click Reset Status.
Layer States in Combined Views
When you create a combined view, the active layer state is included in the combined view. Since there is no default layer state, the default combined view displays the active layer state.
