About Surface Regions in Topology Optimization
During an optimization, you might want to divide a surface into regions so that you can apply entities to only certain regions.
Surface regions enable you to divide a surface so that you can apply entities on a portion of a surface. Then you can select the surface region just like regular surfaces or solid faces. You can define entities such as loads or constraints on surface regions.
Click
Surface Region to open the
Surface Region tab.
Defining a surface region is a two-step process:
• First, you define the outline that bounds the region.
• Second, you identify the parent surface. The bounded area is divided from the parent surface. To do this, you use the options on the Surface Region tab.
After you fully define a surface region, you can apply constraints and loads to the region, without applying them to the parent surface or other regions on that surface. All rules and procedures that govern loads and constraints that you apply to full surfaces are also true when you apply these entities to surface regions.
You can set up surface regions in the Creo Topology Optimization environment. You can also set up surface regions in Creo Simulate FEM (Finite Element Method) mode first, and then open the model in Creo Topology Optimization. For information about surface regions, see topics in the Creo Simulate help. Some functionality in Creo Simulate, might not be available in Creo Topology Optimization.
