Types of Constructed Planes
You can create the following types of Constructed Planes:
Best Fit—Created through several measure or construct steps. You must select at least 3 measure or construct steps of the type point, circle, cone, or sphere. If you select more than 3 measure or construct steps, the plane is constructed to provide the best fit for all the selected points.
Midplane—Created midway between 2 measure or construct steps of type plane. The measure or construct planes can be at any angle to each other.
Normal—Created using 2 measure or construct steps. The constructed plane passes through a measure or construct step of type point, circle, cone, or sphere and is normal to a measure or construct step of type line, cylinder, or cone.
Parallel—Created using 2 measure or construct steps. The constructed plane passes through a measure or construct step of type point, circle, cone, or sphere and is parallel to a measure or construct step of type plane.
Theoretical—Created with reference to a datum plane.
