Using the Parameters Dialog Box
About the Parameters dialog box to:
The Parameters dialog box is used for the following:
• To view parameter properties
• To edit parameter properties
• To add parameters
• To search for parameters
• To select parameters
• To use filters
• To delete parameters
• To use parameter table information
• To work with rows and columns
To open the Parameters Dialog Box
Right click the name of the top level assembly in the model tree and click
.
Alternatively, right click the name of a part in the model tree and click Parameters > Occurrence Parameters or Parameters > Model Parameters.
Searching for Parameters in the Parameters Dialog Box
Click Edit > Find or press CTRL + F to search for parameters either by name, value, or any other property. You can select the following parameter properties in the Search dialog box:
• Name
• Type
• Value
• Designate
• Access
• Source
• Description
• Restricted
• Unit Quantity
• Unit
You can search for parameter types by typing the first letter or the first few letters of its value followed by an asterisk (*). For example, NAME = len* displays parameter names starting with the letters len in the Parameters dialog box
To define a rule to find a parameter, click Add rule as and select an option.
Selecting Parameters
• Right-click any cell of the parameter definition and click Select Parameter on the shortcut menu. You can subsequently edit the selected parameters by right-clicking the selected parameter and clicking Edit Properties on the shortcut menu.
• Click the row header (before the first column of each parameter row in the parameter table) for the required parameter to select the entire row in the parameter table. You can also right-click the row header and use the shortcut menu to select a parameter, create a new parameter, edit parameter properties, delete a parameter, designate a parameter, specify a unit for a parameter, and view information for a parameter.
| The row header precedes the first column of the each parameter row in the parameter table. |
• Press CTRL to select multiple entries.
• Press SHIFT to select all parameters between the first and last selected entries.
• You can select multiple parameters and perform the following operations:
Operation | Condition | Result |
Delete | Not applicable if a parameter is locked. | Deletes all selected parameters. |
Designate | Applicable if at least one or more parameters are not designated. | Designates all selected parameters. |
Undesignate | Applicable if at least one or more parameters are designated. | Undesignates all selected parameters. |
Filtering Parameters
Click Edit > Show Filter to see the Filter By drop down.
Click Edit > Hide Filter to hide the Filter By drop down.
Using Filters
Click Filter By, to see parameters by categories:
• Default
• Current and all submodels
| • If an assembly file developed in Creo (using Creo parameters) is accessed in Creo Direct, then a appears under the Access column in the Parameters dialog box. Creo appears under the Source column. After unlocking and modifying the parameter, Creo Direct is seen in the place of Creo. • If an assembly file developed in Creo Direct (using Creo Direct parameters), is accessed in Creo, then a appears under the Access column in the Parameters dialog box. Creo Direct appears under the Source column. After unlocking and modifying the parameter, User Defined is seen in the place of Creo Direct. • User defined parameters can be unlocked. |
To edit properties of a Creo Parametric based model in Creo Direct:
1. Click the area in the row, next to the Name column to select the entire row. Hold down the CTRL key to select more than one parameter having the same name.
2. Right click in the Source column and click Edit properties to open the Parameter Properties dialog box.
Deleting Parameters
Consider the following rules when deleting parameters:
• You cannot delete a user parameter that is driven by a relation or used in a relation. You must first delete the relations where the parameter is used before deleting the parameter.
• You cannot delete an individual parameter belonging to a table restricted set. However, you can delete the entire table restricted set.
• If you have added a parameter column to the Model Tree, you can delete the parameter by clearing the corresponding cell on the Model Tree.
Using Parameter Table Information
Click File > Export Data to export the entire parameter table either in the Comma Separated Value (CSV) or in the Text (txt) format. You can open such a CSV file in Microsoft Excel.
Click File > Save Configuration As, to save the configuration of a specific view of the parameter table. This configuration includes the following details:
• Sort status
• Filter (including the user-defined filters)
• Column display
◦ Displayed columns
◦ Order of column display
◦ Size of columns
• Size of Parameters dialog box
• Location of Parameters dialog box
Using File > Load Configuration in the Parameters dialog box, you can load the saved configuration file from the Parameters dialog box of any model.
Working with Rows and Columns
• To add a column in the Parameters dialog box:
1. Click
to open the
Parameter Table Columns dialog box.
2. Select the required column name from the Not Displayed section.
3. Click
. Click
OK.
• To remove a column in the Parameters dialog box:
1. In the Parameter Table Columns dialog box, select the required column name from the Displayed section.
2. Click
. Click
OK.
• You can sort the listed parameters in ascending or descending order based on the contents of a column by clicking its column header. Clicking the column header again reverses the sort order.
• You can change the size of the columns. The changed column size and its position is retained.
• You can also reorder parameter rows by moving one or more rows in the upward or downward direction by clicking the arrows located at the right of the parameters table in the Parameters dialog box. The new order of parameters is retained even after the model is saved.
