Change system settings
System settings include preferences such as units, auto-save, measure output, and various messages.
To change your system settings,
1. Click File > Settings > System. The System Settings dialog box opens. The left pane of the System Settings dialog box lists the categories of options and the right pane displays the options for each category.
2. Units: Set your preferred measurement units. The minimum length value is 1 micron or 0.000001m.
3. Save: Includes the following settings:
Save Persistent Settings: Save your settings when you exit Creo Elements/Direct Modeling. Click Reset to restore the persistent data as set during the system start up.
Save backup file: Periodically auto-save your work. Click Advanced to set the save interval, backup file location, and other preferences.
Default file version: The Creo Elements/Direct Modeling file version to use when saving files. This value is only a default selection, and can be changed in the Save dialog whenever you save a file.
4. Measure: Set the number of decimal places to display in measurement output.
5. Name Suffix: Set the default naming suffix for copies/shares.

Increase Minimum width of number suffix to change the sort order in the structure browser. Instead of sorting 1, 10, 2, 3, etc., parts will sort in the correct order: 01, 02, ... 09, 10.
6. Notifications: Set the messages you want to see for containers and relations. The options for On Model Load are:
None (default): No messages are displayed when you load a model with a container or relation set.
Once: No matter how many containers are loaded with the model, just one message is displayed.
All: A message is displayed for every container or relation set.
The Relation Warnings section includes the following settings:
Show warning on modification: Displays a warning when a reference element, which is required for a relation is modified.
Show warning on deletion: Displays a warning when a reference element, which is required for a relation is deleted.
The Machining Features Warning section includes the following check box:
Show warning on validation: Displays a warning when a Modify 3D operation, which is performed on a machining feature, is successfully validated.

To avoid displaying warnings on every successful validation, clear the check box.

A warning is not displayed if a Modify 3D operation is performed on the following machining features:
Thread Bolt with Clearance Parameters
Thread Bolt with Groove Parameters
Outer Thread with Clearance Parameters
Outer Thread with Groove Parameters
The Face Set Feature Warnings section includes the following settings:
Show warning on invalidation: Displays a warning when a reference element, which is required for a face set feature is invalidated.
Show warning on revalidation: Displays a warning when a reference element, which is required for a face set feature is revalidated.
Show warning on deletion: Displays a warning when a reference element, which is required for a face set feature is deleted.
7. Model Advisor: Includes the following settings:
Advisor output: Turns the warning messages on or off.
min Edge: Check for edges that are shorter than the length specified.
Control Points: Check for surfaces that have more control points than specified.
Void Shells: Check for closed bodies containing a hollow chamber.
Knife Edges: Checks for two faces that meet at a knife edge.
Nonmanifolds: Check for spatial ambiguities that cannot be manufactured.
8. Startup: Set the options to create a default part or workplane.
9. Calculator: Includes the following settings:
Notation: Toggles the calculator between RPN and algebraic.
Measure Circular by: Toggles the calculator to measure in radii or diameters.
10. Click Reset to restore the settings of a single category, selected categories, or all categories of options to the Site, Corp, or Factory default settings. The Reset System Settings dialog box opens. The current category is selected by default if you click Reset.
11. Click Close when you are finished. Changes are applied as you change settings.
