Example: Positioning a part by two points and a direction
In this example, you will position part 4 using a pair of points (1 and 1'), a direction on each part, and another pair of points (3 and 3').
1. Click Structure and then, in the Part & Assembly group, click the arrow next to Position.
2. Click Dynamic. The Position dialog box opens.
3. Click part 4 to specify the move part. Creo Elements/Direct Modeling displays the positioning options.
4. Click Other and select Pt Dir Pt.
5. Click point 1 on the part to be moved.
6. Click point 1' on the fixed part. Creo Elements/Direct Modeling uses the first pair of points to specify the two origins. They will be positioned so they lie on each other. Creo Elements/Direct Modeling displays the Direction 3D menu.
7. Click Face Normal and click face 2.
8. Click Face Normal again and click face 2'. When Creo Elements/Direct Modeling positions part 4, it will align the direction of the face normal on part 4 with the direction of the face normal on the fixed part.
9. Click point 3 on the part to be moved.
10. Click point 3' on the fixed part. Creo Elements/Direct Modeling uses the second pair of points to define two imaginary lines. One line connects points 1 and 3 on part 4. The other line connects points 1' and 3' on the fixed part. These lines will be positioned so they lie on each other.
11. Click to complete the operation or continue using the positioning options.
