You can attach a 2D view in Creo Elements/Direct Annotation to a 3D view belonging to a Creo Elements/Direct Modeling part or assembly by matching the view names. Creo Elements/Direct Annotation compares the names of the 3D views belonging to a specified view set to the names of the detached 2D views in the current drawing. (Only detached views in the drawing are considered.)
After comparing all the views, Creo Elements/Direct Annotation lists the 3D view names having a possible match on the drawing. These are displayed in the 2D-3D Connection by Name table. You select the proposed attachments from the table, and Creo Elements/Direct Annotation attaches the views.
The Att by Name command should be used very carefully because it significantly alters the 2D data. It is possible, for example, to attach views in an imported drawing to the wrong 3D model; a subsequent update would then destroy the imported drawing information.
To attach views by matching names,
1. Click Migration Tools and then, in the 2D3D Connection group, click Att by Name. The Attach by Name dialog box opens.
2. Specify a view set to analyze in one of the following ways:
◦ Select the view set in the Structure Browser.
◦ Enter the path and name of the view set in the View Set box (for example, /p1/vs2 for view set vs2 belonging to part p1).
Creo Elements/Direct Annotation compares the view names from the view set to the names of detached views in the drawing. Any matches are listed in the 2D-3D Connection by Name table.
3. Specify the views to attach by clicking the entry in the table and clicking Apply (or double click the entry). Multiple selection is also possible; see below.
4. Click on the Attach by Name dialog box.
Creo Elements/Direct Annotation attaches the specified views. You can now update the views.
The 2D-3D connection by name table
The proposed matches of 3D and 2D views are displayed in the 2D-3D Connection by Name table. The information shown in the table is:
• Sheet: The sheet upon which the proposed detached view resides.
• Detached 2D View: The proposed drawing view matching the corresponding 3D view from the specified view set.
• Possible 3D View: The full path and name of the 3D view potentially matching the drawing view.
Select rows in the table to attach the proposed views by clicking them and then clicking Apply. You can also double-click the entries. To select multiple view matches:
• For contiguous selection: Click one entry in the table, press the SHIFT button, and click another entry in the table. All rows between the two specified rows are also selected.
• For non-contiguous selection: Click one entry in the table, press the CTRL button, and continue clicking entries. All specified rows are selected.
Filter column data
You can control the data displayed in the table by applying filters over the columns.
To filter a column,
1. In the table, right-click the heading of the column you want to filter.
The Column Filter dialog box appears.
2. Set filters as required.
The table displays the filtered list of matched views.
To clear filters, follow the instructions above, but click Reset or Reset all filters of table in the Column Filter dialog box.
