Pro/MECHANICAâ MOTIONä Retirement

With the recent release of Pro/ENGINEER® Wildfire™ 2.0, PTC has delivered a fully integrated, fast, and robust Mechanism Design and Dynamics solution that offers an easy-to-use user interface and depth of functionality you have come to enjoy with Pro/MECHANICA MOTION. As part of Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire, the Pro/ENGINEER Mechanism Design and Mechanism Dynamics package offers fast and accurate kinematic and dynamic motion simulation, enabling you to analyze a wide range of mechanism behavior. The package also provides real-time assembly manipulation, seamless associativity, consolidated file management, and unmatched interoperability across the complete spectrum of PTC's design collaboration tools. Furthermore, these products do not require 3rd party compilers and have been built on an architecture that enables us to add new functionality in the future.

The superiority of the mechanism design and dynamics features in Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 2.0 has eliminated the need for Pro/MECHANICA MOTION in our portfolio. Consequently, Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 2.0 marks the last release of Pro/MECHANICA MOTION. PTC will continue to provide technical support for the solution under active maintenance until December 31st, 2005.

PTC will issue a Mechanism Design and Mechanism Dynamics license free of charge for each Pro/MECHANICA MOTION license under an active maintenance contract. The continued maintenance costs for the mechanism products will be significantly lower, yet customers will receive more functionality and will no longer need to purchase and maintain 3rd party compilers.
