Visible Records and Fields
Searches are limited to the records in the active table or fields in the active form. For example, if the FRACAS Incidents table is active, only the records shown in this table are searched. If a FRACAS Incidents form is active, only the fields on this form are searched for the incident currently active in the table.
• The
Table Format file for the table affects the fields shown in the table. For more information, see
Table Format Files.
• The
Form Design file for the form affects the fields shown on the form. For more information, see
Form Design Files.
Filter by commands and filters affect the records that are shown in several different tables. For more information, see:
For example, if the FRACAS Incidents table is filtered so that only records 1 through 10 are visible and its Table Format file includes only two fields, Incident Identifier and User Text 1, only the data in these two fields is searched for these 10 incidents.
Because the data shown on a form is for the record selected in its associated table, Filter by commands and filters indirectly limit the records that can be searched from a form. For example, if a FRACAS Incidents form includes 20 fields, these 20 fields are searched only for the incidents that are currently shown in the table.
