Fault Tree Object Overview
The following table describes the objects that you can insert in a fault tree. Each of these objects has its own set of properties. For more information, see Fault Tree Object Properties.
Fault Tree Object
Description
Connector
The lines that connect the gates and events in the tree. A connector is inserted along with the gate or event.
Event
An event, which if it occurs, can lead to the occurrence of the top event (undesired event) that is being modeled by the tree. For more information, see Events.
Gate
A logical operator that indicates the conditions for the occurrence of the event. For more information, see:
Label
A text string that provides information that might be necessary or helpful to understanding the tree.
The FTA Diagram pane displays the tree selected in the FTA Table. In this pane, you can insert any number of gates and events and specify appropriate properties so that analysis can be performed. You can also link any event to another item in the System file to use the failure data calculated for this item for the event. For more information, see Data Links.
