Using Dependency Groups
When you assign a block to a dependency group, other blocks (or even blocks in the same group) can be set up to perform an action when any member of the group fails. The RBD Dependency Groups window provides for inserting groups, deleting groups, and highlighting the blocks in a group.
1. To open the RBD Dependency Groups window, do one of the following:
Select RBD > Dependency Groups.
From the Dependency page in a block’s Calculation Properties window, click the browse button to the left of the Dependency Group field.
The RBD Dependency Groups window opens. For more information, see RBD Dependency Groups window.
2. To insert a dependency group, do one of the following:
In the last table row, click < Click here to insert a new record >.
Press Insert.
Right-click and select Insert New Dependency Group or Insert New Dependency Group Above.
When you select a command for inserting a dependency group between two existing groups, it is inserted above the record currently selected in the table. All other commands insert the group at the end of the table.
You can repeat step 2 multiple times to insert multiple groups. However, you cannot reorder the groups once they are inserted.
The default for the identifier is Dependency Group. If a group with this identifier already exists, the default is Dependency Group (X), where (X) is the next available numeric value.
For Identifier, you can modify the default identifier assigned to the group. Additionally, for Description, you can enter a description.
3. Once blocks are assigned to a group, you can do the following to expand and collapse the branch for the group:
If the branch is collapsed, click the + (plus) sign to the left of the identifier. All of its child records are shown, revealing the blocks that are assigned to the group.
If the branch is expanded, click the - (minus) sign to the left of the identifier. All of its child records are hidden.
4. To delete a dependency group, delete its table record. The assignment of this group is removed from any block to which it is assigned.
5. To highlight the blocks assigned to a group, do the following:
a. Select the row for the group.
b. Right-click and select Highlight Blocks in Group.
In the diagram, all blocks that are assigned to the group are highlighted. The highlighting remains in place until you close the RBD Dependency Groups window. You can repeat this step to highlight the blocks assigned to another group.
6. When finished, click Close to close the RBD Dependency Groups window.
