Repair Resource Allocation Policy
The repair resource allocation policy is based on a first-come, first-served (first-requested, first-used) basis. To avoid any ambiguous situations, the following guidelines are implemented:
The first available repair team is allocated to the first requested (failed) component.
If all of the required resources are never going to be available, then repair teams are not allocated. For example, if a component without replenishment has exhausted its spares pool, a repair team is not allocated to replace this component with a spare.
As indicated in Repair Resource Optimizations, you can calculate the optimal quantity of repair resources to have on hand based on various constraints such as desired capacity or availability.
