Block Diagram Overview
Block diagrams are used to evaluate the reliability of systems that are complex in their configurations. This section provides an overview of the theory behind block diagrams and describes the advanced optimization and simulation features supported by the RBD module. Besides using maintenance data, this module supports the following capabilities that are unavailable in typical tools for evaluating block diagrams: capacity, cost analysis, imperfect maintenance, repair resources, spares, downtime cost calculations, and optimization algorithms for maintenance intervals, repair resources, and spares.
The topics in this section include:

If you are interested in evaluating the reliability of phase-based systems, see Phase Diagrams. This section describes how to insert and build phase diagrams, which determine overall system reliability characteristics by taking into account all phases that a system experiences during a mission.
