Method Fields for Assemblies
The following table describes the data fields in the Method Data pane for an assembly. Field availability depends on the selection made in for Method in the assembly’s Calculation Data pane. Field availability for each Telcordia calculation method is specified in Method Field Availability for Assemblies.
Field
Description
Burn-In data
The fields under this heading are used to calculate the first year multiplier, which is then used to calculate the first year drop out or infant morality rate. The burn-in data that you enter is not used in the steady state failure rate calculation for the assembly. For the top-most assembly (system), the values entered are for system burn-in temperature and time. For all other assembly levels, the values entered are unit burn-in temperature and time.
Burn-In time
The amount of time spent burning in the assembly in hours.
Burn-In temperature
The temperature for the burn-in period of the assembly in degrees C.
Average burn-in time
The average burn-in time for the assembly. This field is available only when Method II Case L4 is selected.
Average burn-in temperature
The average burn-in temperature.
Laboratory data
The fields under this heading are available only when Method II Case L2 or Method II Case L4 is selected.
Laboratory failures
The number of failures in the laboratory test.
Laboratory units on test
The number of units in the laboratory test.
Laboratory test time
The actual time on test in hours. This value is used in the calculation of effective time on test.
Laboratory test temperature
The temperature at which the laboratory test was conducted. This value is used in the calculation of the acceleration factor and effective time on test.
Field data
The options under this heading are available when various Method III choices are selected.
Field time
The total operating hours of the assembly in the field. This field is available when any Method III choice is selected.
Field failures
The number of assembly failures observed in the field. This field is available when any Method III choice is selected.
Tracked unit environment
OR
Tracked unit temperature
When Telcordia Issue 4, Telcordia Issue 3, or Telcordia Issue 2 is the model selected, you select the environment in which the assembly operates in the field. For choices, see MIL-HDBK-217, Telcordia, and Bellcore Environments. When any other model that supports Telcordia calculation methods is selected, you enter the temperature of the assembly in the field. This field is available only when Method III(b) is selected.
Tracked unit failure rate
The steady state failure rate prediction using Method I Case 3. This field is available only when Method III(c) is selected.
