Inserting an EPRD Library Part into the System File
If the 217Plus or PRISM model is licensed, you can use the
Library Browse window to search for an EPRD part and insert it and its associated failure rate into a
System file. The EPRD Library supplies both merged and single item failure rates for electronic parts. It also includes some mechanical parts. From the parts meeting the entered filter criteria, you can choose to insert a merged failure rate for all parts or the failure rate for any single part. For more information, see
NPRD and EPRD Libraries.
1. In the System Tree Items table, select the assembly for which to insert an EPRD part.
2. In a new record in the
Parts Table, select
EPRD for
Part Classification. The
Library Browse window opens in the pinned mode. For more information, see
Library Browse Window.
If Part Classification is not included in the Parts Table or if Automatically browse for NPRD/EPRD parts has been cleared under Prediction in the Options window, you must select > to manually open the Library Browse window.
To view all parts in the EPRD Library, you leave all search criteria options in the Search pane blank. To view all subcategories for a particular part category, you make a selection for Category but leave all other fields blank.
The All choice for Subcategory and Subtype is used to categorize all parts that could not be assigned to any of the other choices. It is not a comprehensive listing of all parts in the subcategory or subtype.
4. When finished, click Search or press Enter to initiate the search.
5. In the Results pane, which displays all of the parts that meet the filter criteria specified, select the part or parts to insert.
To select contiguous parts, click the first part and then drag the mouse until all of the desired parts are selected. To select noncontiguous parts, press and hold down Ctrl while clicking the desired parts.
6. Once all parts to insert are selected, click Insert. The selected parts are inserted in the System file. The Library Browse window remains open in case you want to continue to insert parts.
7. When you are finished inserting parts, close the Library Browse window by clicking the X in the upper right corner.
8. Complete the fields in the
Part Table and on Prediction Parts forms. This includes entering part parameters in the
Prediction Data pane. For information for an EPRD part, see
Entering EPRD Part Parameters.
9. For each part inserted into the System file, enter data in the Parts Table as well as on each Prediction Parts form.
If a MIL-HDBK-217 model is selected for the calculation, you can view and modify the part parameters for an EPRD part in the
Prediction Data pane. For more information, see
Entering EPRD Part Parameters.
