Field
Description
---|---|---|---|
Part number
The part number assigned to the part.
Part classification
The class of the part., which determines the categories that are available for selection. For more information, see Part Classifications.
Category
The type of the part, which determines the subcategories that are available for selection.
Subcategory
The subtype of the part.
Reference designator
The reference designator for the part. For example, the reference designator might be U1, R22, or C15.
Calculation model
The reliability prediction standard or model to use to compute the predicted failure rate of the part. Choices include all licensed models. As described in Model Selection, a part inherits the model selected for its parent assembly. However, unless a FIDES, IEC TR 62380, or RDF 2000 model is selected for the top-most assembly, you can specify an override model for the part.
Alternate part number
The alternate part number assigned to the part. If a part number search does not result in a part number match, a search of the value entered in this field occurs.
Description
A description of the part that is either brought in from a Prediction Parts Library file or manually entered.
Cost, unit
The cost of the part. The units in which you enter cost can be whatever you like. However, you must use the same units for all costs.
Manufacturer
The manufacturer of the part. In a newly created Project, the Manufacturers list in the Master List Library file is attached to this field by default.
CAGE code
The CAGE (Commercial and Government Entity) code for the part. While this is generally a 5-digit code, you can enter up to 255 characters.
Remarks
Any notes or comments about the part.
Tagged part
When selected, indicates that the part is tagged. This field is generally used in Report Design files to provide for reporting on only items (parts and assemblies) that are tagged. It is generally used to indicate that the entry for the item has not yet been completed.
Repairable
When selected, the part is repairable. This information is used in Maintainability and RBD calculations if these modules are also in use.
Quantity
The number of these parts in the assembly. Entering fractional quantities is permitted.
Mult FR adjustment factor
A value that is multiplied by the failure rate for the part to calculate an adjusted failure rate.
Add FR adjustment factor
A value that is added to (or subtracted from) the failure rate for the part to calculate the adjusted failure rate. You may enter a positive or negative value.
Logistics control number (LCN)
The LCN (Logistics Control Number) to use for the item when generating an LSAR (logistics support analysis record) file compatible with the MIL-STD-1388 2B format. LSAR files can also be imported in SLICwave software. The LCN is typically an 18-digit number. For more information, see Generating LSAR Files.
Failure rate type
The type of failure rate or MTBF (mean time between failures) for the part. Choices are: Allocated; Calculated, Specified, Failure Rate; and Specified, MTBF. The default is Calculated. The selection you make in this field determines which of the subsequent fields are available. For more information, see For more information, see Failure Rate Types for Assemblies and Parts.
Failure rate, specified
The failure rate for the part. This field is available when Specified, Failure Rate is selected for Failure rate type.
MTBF specified
The MTBF for the part. This field is available when Specified, MTBF is selected for Failure rate type.
Standard deviation specified
The standard deviation to use for the part’s specified failure rate value. This field is available only when Telcordia Issue 4, Telcordia Issue 3, or Telcordia Issue 2 is the calculation model and either Specified, Failure Rate or Specified, MTBF is selected for Failure rate type.
MTTR type
The type of MTTR (mean time to repair) for the part. This field is available only if Repairable is selected. Choices are Calculated or Specified. The default is Calculated. When Specified is selected, MTTR specified becomes available so that you can enter the MTTR. For more information, see MTTR Type.
