LCC - Equation Editor Pane
The LCC - Equation Editor pane provides for entering the equation for computing the costs associated with the item selected in the LCC pane. This pane is similar to the Calculation Editor pane in the Project’s Calculation file. For more information, see Calculation Editor Pane.
In the LCC - Equation Editor pane, you can multiply, divide, add, or subtract numeric values for data fields. For example, to calculate maintenance costs for an item in the CBS (cost breakdown structure), you might insert the following equation:
Number of Failures * Time Interval * (Cost of Spare Part + (Repair Time * Labor)
To simplify cost equations, you can use variables that have been defined to represent data values. You insert system-based variables to use in custom calculations in the Calculation file.
The following table describes the options in the LCC - Equation Editor pane. These options are basically the same as the ones in the Calculation Editor pane of the Calculation file. For more information, see Calculation Editor Options.

Cost equation
The equation for calculating the cost of the item selected in the LCC pane.
Analyzes the calculation to determine whether it is valid.
Provides for inserting numeric values and basic mathematical operators in the equation by clicking keypad buttons. In addition to using keypad buttons, you can insert numeric values and basic mathematical operators by typing them directly in equation.
Opens the Select Variable window so that you can insert a variable defined in the LCC Variables file in the equation. For more information, see Variables Button.
Opens the Insert Field window so that you can insert a data field in the equation. Additionally, you can use the Data Fields Toolbar to easily insert data fields in an equation. For more information, see Data Fields Toolbar.
Provides for one-click insertion of a date function in the equation.
