FTA Diagram Pane
In the FTA Diagram pane, you insert gates and events to build a graphical representation of the faults that lead to the top event, which is generally an undesired event such as a failure. As you build the tree, the FTA Table is updated to show all gates and events in the diagram.
Once you run FTA calculations, a text box is shown on each gate and event symbol. This text box displays a calculation result, such as Q: 0.0392493. By default, the Q prompt indicates that the result shown is the Unavailability value. For each type of gate and event, you can specify one or two results to show in this text box in the Project’s FTA Style file. For more information, see Specifying the Results to Show in Gate and Event Text Boxes on the Diagram. The result shown is always for the primary time point specified when FTA calculations were last run. For more information, see Calculating FTA Results.
You can customize the prompt that appears in front of the result in the Project’s Data Definition file. When FTA Display Labels is selected as the table type, you can specify a custom user prompt for calculation input and result fields. For example, instead of using Q as the prompt for the Unavailability result, you can type Unavail for User Prompt to use it instead. For more information, see Customizing a Field Prompt.
In addition to supporting custom prompts for FTA display labels, the Data Definition file supports custom prompts for the two FTA tables in the System file. For these two table types, you can specify the precision for applicable numeric fields and attach lists in enabled List Library files to applicable text fields. The text fields in these tables also support dependent lists and default values. For more information, see:
