Special Mouse Cursors
When you select certain commands, the mouse cursor changes shape to assist in performing that particular function. The following table shows special mouse cursors and describes how to use them.
Special Cursor
Description
Connect Cursor
Indicates that a line can be drawn to connect one diagram object to another diagram object. The Connect cursor appears when the mouse cursor is positioned over a connection point of a diagram object. When you click and drag to insert the connecting line, the Connect cursor turns black when the mouse cursor is positioned over a connection point of another object to which you can connect.
I-Beam Cursor
Indicates that text can be inserted in the diagram. The I-Beam cursor appears when a command or button for inserting a label is selected.
Move Cursor
Indicates that the diagram object can be moved to another location in the diagram. The Move cursor appears when the mouse cursor is positioned over a diagram object that can be moved.
Size Cursor
Indicates that the selected diagram object can be sized. The Size cursor appears when the mouse cursor is positioned over a diagram object that is already selected. (A selected object is highlighted with solid blue selection handles.) When you click and hold down the left mouse button while you drag the mouse, the object is resized horizontally, vertically, or proportionally, depending on the directions indicated by the Size cursor and the direction in which you drag.
Select Cursor
Indicates that multiple diagram objects can be selected by clicking and dragging a selection box around them. The Select cursor is the default cursor when a diagram is first made active. You left-click in the diagram where the upper right corner of the selection box is to begin and hold down the left mouse button while you drag to size the selection to where it encompasses all of the diagram objects that you want to select.
Zoom Cursor
Indicates that you can zoom in on the area of the diagram on which you click. The Zoom cursor appears in the diagram when you select the Zoom Tool command on the Diagram menu or in the Zoom Tools toolbar. For more information, see Zoom Commands.
