Inserting a System File Assembly into an Assembly Library File
From the System file, you can insert the assembly selected in the System Tree Items table or FMEA Tree Items table into an Assembly Library file. Inserting an assembly also inserts all of its child items. For more information, see Assembly Library File Overview.
1. In the System Tree Items table or FMEA Tree Items table, select the row for the assembly to insert.
2. Depending on whether the System Tree Items table or FMEA Tree Items table is active, select Prediction > Insert Selection into Library or FMEA > Insert Selection into Library.
What happens next is determined by whether Prompt on Assembly Library inserts is cleared (default) or selected under General in the Project properties.
If Prompt on Assembly Library inserts is cleared, the selected assembly is automatically inserted into an Assembly Library file.
If no Assembly Library file is enabled, one is created in the Project and the assembly is inserted into it. This requires system administrator or Project administrator privileges.
If one Assembly Library file is enabled, the assembly is inserted into this file.
If multiple Assembly Library files are enabled, the assembly is inserted into the first one in the search order for which you have write permissions. For more information, see Setting the Search Order for System and Library Files.
If Prompt on Assembly Library inserts is selected, the Select Assembly Library window opens so that you can select the Assembly file into which to insert the assembly. This window also provides for creating a new Assembly Library file into which to insert the assembly. For more information, see Select Assembly Library Window.
As the assembly is pasted into the Assembly Library file, a window opens, indicating the progress. Once the paste process finishes, another window opens, indicating the file into which the assembly was inserted.
3. Click OK to close the window.
You can open this Assembly Library file at any time to view and modify the properties for its assemblies just as you do in the System file.
