Diagrams User Options
The following table describes the user options that can appear under Diagrams in the Options window. These options affect the operation of one or more diagram modules, which are described in Diagram Modules. Because each diagram module has its own set of diagram objects, an option may or not be applicable to a particular module. Many of these options are affected by commands selected on the Diagram menu or Diagram Tools toolbar. For more information, see Diagram Commands.
Option
Description
Create one object at a time
Indicates object insertion behavior for gates and events in the FTA module, states in the Markov module, and blocks and junctions in the RBD module. When this checkbox is cleared (default), after you insert one of these objects, you remain in insert mode, which means that to insert additional objects of the same style, you continue to click the left mouse button. To exit this mode, you either click the right mouse button or press the Esc key, which returns you to select mode. When this checkbox is selected, after you insert one of these objects, you return to select mode. When you select this checkbox and Show properties after create, the Properties window for an object opens immediately after its insertion. For more information, see Specifying Object Insertion Behavior.
Event Tree Diagram follows Event Tree Table
Indicates whether to synchronize the diagram shown in the Event Tree Diagram pane with the record selected in the Event Tree Table. When this checkbox is selected (default), they are kept synchronized.
FTA Diagram follows FTA Table
Indicates whether to synchronize the diagram shown in the FTA Diagram pane with the record selected in the FTA Table. When this checkbox is selected (default), they are kept synchronized.
Grid spacing
The spacing between grid lines in inches, regardless of the measurement system selected. Choices are 1/32 in, 1/16 in, 1/8 in, 1/4 in, and 1/2 in. The default is 1/8 in.
Grid type
The type of lines for the grids. Choices are Dots and Lines. The default is Lines.
Markov Diagram follows Markov Table
Indicates whether to synchronize the diagram shown in the Markov Diagram pane with the record selected in the Markov Table. When this checkbox is selected (default), they are kept synchronized.
Measurement system
Specifies the measurement unit that the diagram module is to use. Choices are:
English — When selected (default), the measurement is in inches.
Metric — When selected, the measurement is in centimeters.
RBD Diagram follows RBD Table
Indicates whether to synchronize the diagram shown in the RBD Diagram pane with the record selected in the RBD Table. When this checkbox is selected (default), they are kept synchronized.
Print crop marks
Indicates whether to print crop marks on Markov diagram and RBD reports having multiple pages. When this checkbox is selected (default), crop marks are printed.
Show grid
Indicates whether to show the grid in the diagram area. When this checkbox is cleared (default), the grid is hidden.
Show page boundaries
Indicates whether the area outside of the printed page is shown in the diagram. When this checkbox is selected (default), this area is hidden.
Show properties after create
Indicates whether to open the Properties window for an object immediately after its insertion when only one object is inserted at a time. This checkbox has no effect when Create one object at a time is cleared (default). When both of these checkboxes are selected, the Properties window for the object opens immediately after its insertion.
Show rulers
Indicates whether to shown rulers in a Markov diagram or RBD. When this checkbox is selected (default), rulers are shown. Measurement system determines whether units are English (inches) or Metric (centimeters).
Snap to grid
Indicates whether to align inserted or moved diagram objects to the nearest grid lines. When this checkbox is cleared (default), diagram objects remain where you place them. When it is selected, diagram objects align to the nearest grid lines.
