Creating a Report Design File Using the Report Designer
You can manually create a Report Design file for the System file or any supported file in the Project using a New command. Using this procedure creates an empty Report Design file in the Report Designer. You then insert report objects.
1. Do one of the following to open the Create File window:
On the standard toolbar, click New.
Select File > New > Format > Report Design.
2. To complete this window, do the following:
a. For File type, select Report Design.
b. For Name, supply a descriptive name.
c. Click OK. The Create Report - Select Report Type window opens. The tables listed in the hierarchical tree structure depend on the modules in use. The report types for the System file precede those for support files.
3. Select the type of report to generate and click OK. An empty Report Design file opens in the Report Designer.
4. Insert data fields in the Report Design file. For more information, see Insert Report Object Commands.
5. When finished, save and close the Report Design file.
This report is now available for selection in the Report to Print window or the Report to Preview window.
