IIS Requirements for the Web Services
The computer on which you install Windchill Risk and Reliability Web Services is referred to as the web server. This computer must have Windows 10 or later as its operating system. This ensures that an appropriate version of Microsoft Internet Information Service (IIS) is running (Version 7.0 or later). Because web services use .NET technology, this computer must be configured to process .NET .aspx files. For more information, see ASP.NET IIS Registration Tool in the MSDN Library.
If you attempt to install Windchill Risk and Reliability Web Services on a computer without an appropriate IIS version, a window opens, indicating that this application cannot be installed. Once you click OK to close this window, you click Next to continue with the installation of other Windchill Risk and Reliability components. Or, you click Cancel to exit the Setup program so that you can first install and enable an appropriate IIS version on the web server.
IIS 7 must still have a 32-bit application pool for Windchill Risk and Reliability Web Services.
If it is a 32-bit application pool, the Setup program searches for DefaultAppPool. If it is found, the Setup program continues.
If it is a 64-bit application pool, the Setup program searches for an application pool named 32bitAppPool. If it is found, the Setup program continues. If it is not found, the Setup program creates an application pool with this name and then continues.
