Client Installations
The Setup program copies the Client folder to the shared Windchill Risk and Reliability directory on the application server. The path is Installation Directory\PTC\Windchill Risk and Reliability 12.0\Windchill Risk and Reliability\Client.
This folder contains a file for installing Windchill Risk and Reliability components to client computers. This file does not install Windchill Risk and Reliability programs on the client computer, but rather it sets up the computer to access these programs on the application server.
The following procedure describes how to install Windchill Risk and Reliability components to client computers. If desired, you can silently install these components as described in Silent Client Installations.
1. Ensure that you log on to the client computer with a Windows user account that has full administrative rights.
2. From the client computer, navigate to the Client folder on the application server and double-click the WindchillRiskandReliability12.0EnterpriseClient file to run the Client Setup program.
3. If a window opens for permitting this program to run or start, select Run or Continue.
The Client Setup program loads and displays the Installer Language window.
4. Select the language for your installation and click OK. The Welcome page appears.
5. Click Next. The License Agreement page appears.
A selection control provides for changing the language in which the agreement is shown. Additionally, clicking Printable Version opens a PDF file in the selected language so that you can print the agreement. To continue, you must accept it.
6. After reading the agreement, click I Agree. The Setup Type page appears. Two setup types are available.
Typical—Installs the components that the client computer needs to access Windchill Risk and Reliability on the application server.
Full—Installs the components that the client computer needs to access both the desktop version and the Administrator application on the application server.
7. To provide access to only the desktop version, select Typical. To provide access to both the desktop version and the Administrator application, select Full.
8. Click Next. The Server Application Directory page appears.
The UNC path to the shared Windchill Risk and Reliability folder on the application server must be specified. The appropriate path is entered by default. A UNC path is the PC format for specifying the location of a shared resource on a LAN (local area network).
The format is: \\COMPUTER_NAME\SHARED_FOLDER_NAME. If necessary, you can type the path or use the browse button to navigate to and select the shared folder.
For Windchill Risk and Reliability, the path is typically \\COMPUTER_NAME\Windchill Risk and Reliability 12.0.
9. Once the UNC path is specified, click Next. If it is invalid, a window opens, displaying a warning. You will not be able to proceed until you type or select a valid path. Once this occurs, the Desktop Shortcuts page appears.
10. Select or clear the checkbox to indicate whether to add shortcuts for Windchill Risk and Reliability programs to the desktop of the client computer. Shortcuts are installed when the checkbox is selected. Then, click Next. The Installation Summary page appears.
11. Review the information on this page. If any of it is incorrect, click Back and Next to move back and forth between the previous pages and this page, making the necessary modifications.
12. Once the information on the Installation Summary page is correct, click Install.
During the installation, the Installing page is shown and status windows open and close. To view additional information as files are installed, on the Installing page, click Show details.
Once all files are installed, the final page of the Client Setup page appears.
13. Click Finish. The Client Setup program completes the installation and closes.
If necessary, the Client Setup program will also restart the computer.
If shortcuts have been added to Windows desktop of the client computer, you can double-click them to start these applications on the application server. You can also start an application by selecting [All] Programs > Windchill Risk and Reliability 12.0.0.0 and then the option for it from the Windows Start menu.
