Insert LDAP Group and Insert LDAP User Windows
The Insert LDAP Group and Insert LDAP User windows are very similar. The only difference between the options provided is that the LDAP User window lets you select either an LDAP user or an LDAP group. The following table describes the options in these windows. For more information, see Inserting an LDAP Group.
Option
Description
Name
The name of the group or user for which to search. This field supports the use of the * wildcard character.
Search
When clicked, a search of LDAP servers is performed for the group or user specified for Name. The LDAP option determines which servers are searched.
LDAP directory server
The LDAP server to search. < All > is the default. When it is selected, all servers that you have configured connections to are searched. You can elect to search a particular server by selecting it from the list.
LDAP group
The LDAP group to search. This option is present only in the Insert LDAP User window. When it is selected, < All > all groups on all configured servers are searched. You can elect to search a particular group by selecting it from the list.

Option
Description
Name
The name of the group or user matching the criterion entered for Name.
When clicked, a search of LDAP servers is performed for the group or user specified for Name. The LDAP option determines which servers are searched.
Source
The LDAP server or group or where the match is found. In the LDAP User window, both the server and group name are shown when multiple servers are searched (ptc\susan smith).
Location
The LDAP server path that indicates where the group or user is located in the directory tree. An example for a group follows:
CN=Developers,CN=Users,DC=ptc,DC=local
An example for a user follows:
CN=susan smith,OU=Users,DC=ptc,DC=local
Clicking Select All or Clear All selects or clears the selection of all table rows. The rows selected when you click Insert are the groups or users inserted into the LDAP Groups or LDAP Users area.
