Performing an Exponential Calculation
You can use the General Statistics Calculator to compute the reliability and unreliability of an exponential distribution.
1. If the General Statistics Calculator is not open, select LDA > General Statistics Calculator to open it.
2. In the navigation pane, click Exponential.
3. For Calculate using, select the known value to use to solve for reliability and unreliability values. Choices are Failure rate and MTBF. Under Parameters, the first prompt changes to this selection.
4. Under Parameters, enter the known value and as well as the time of exposure.
5. Click Calculate. The results for reliability and unreliability are shown in display-only fields under Results.
6. When finished, click Close.
If you change the selection for Calculate using, under Parameters, the first prompt changes the known value changes to its inverse. For example, if the known value is a failure rate of 0.9, if you select MTBF, the first prompt changes to MTBF and the known value changes to 1.25 (1.0/0.8). If you then select Failure rate, the first prompt changes to Failure rate and the known value changes to 0.8 (1.0/1.25).
