MIL-HDBK-217, Telcordia, and Bellcore Environments

The following table lists the many environments available for Environment,217 / Telcordia, which is shown in an assembly’s Calculation Data pane when a MIL-HDBK-217, Telcordia, or Bellcore model is selected. These same environments are available when the Mechanical model is selected. For more information, see Calculation Data for MIL-HDBK-217, Telcordia, Bellcore, or Mechanical Model. All but the Mechanical model support custom environments.

While all of the environments are shown when a Telcordia or Bellcore model is selected, these models support only the following environments: AIC, AC - Airborne, Inhabit Cargo, Commercial; GB, GC - Ground, Benign, Controlled; GF, GU - Ground, Fixed, Uncontrolled; GL - Ground Fixed, Uncontrolled, Limited (Telcordia Issue 3 only); GM - Ground Mobile; and SF, SC - Space, Flight, Commercial. If you select any other environment, the Pi E value is 0, which means that the resulting failure rate is 0.

• ARW - Airborne, Rotary Winged

• AUC - Airborne, Uninhab Cargo

• AUF - Airborne, Uninhab Fighter

• GB, GC - Ground, Benign, Controlled

• GF, GU - Ground, Fixed, Uncontrolled

• GL - Ground Fixed, Uncontrolled, Limited

Only the Telcordia Issue 3 model supports the GL - Ground Fixed, Uncontrolled, Limited environment. If you select this environment for any other model that uses this list of environments, the Pi E value is 0. In most cases, a Pi E value of 0 results in a failure rate of 0.
