The following table describes the part parameters required for poppets and sliding action valves.

Fluid Pressure

Real (psi). Used in Cp calculation.
|
The fluid pressure differential across the valve in psi. It is equal to the upstream fluid pressure minus the downstream fluid pressure. The range is commonly from 0 to 9000.

Allowable Leakage
|
Real (inches cubed/minute). Used in Cq calculation.
|
The amount of fluid that is permitted to escape in inches cubed/minute refers to the allowable leaking when operating at the maximum rated gallons per minute. The range is commonly from 0.005 to 0.1.

Viscosity (xE-8)
|
Real (Lb Min/Sq In * E-8). Used in Cv calculation.
|
The viscosity of the fluid. Entered values are multiplied by 1E-8 to obtain actual viscosity. Fluid viscosity changes with temperature. For more information, see Viscosity.

Filter Size

Real (microns). Used in Cn calculation.
|
The system filter size in microns.
|

# Particles/Hr/GPM
|
Real (N10). Used in Cn calculation.

The actual flow in gallons/minute.

The surface finish in micro inches. Common values range from 0 to 100.

Seat Stress Ratio

Required only for the Poppet subcategory.
The apparent seat stress is found by actual measurement or design specifications. Common values range from 1.0 to 1.5. It can be calculated by:  Where: • SS = The seat stress. • PS = The fluid pressure. • DS = The diameter of the seat exposed to fluid pressure PS. • DM = The mean land width diameter. • LW = The land area width. |

Mean Diameter

The mean diameter of the poppet seat. Typical values range from 0 to 2 inches.

The land width of the poppet seat. The valid range is 0 to 0.6. Typical values range from 0.05 to 0.38.

Friction Coefficient

The value to use for the friction coefficient. For more information, see Friction Coefficients.

Spool Clearance

The spool to sleeve clearance in microinches. Common values range from 400 to 1600.

Spool Diameter

The diameter of spool. Common values range from 1.0 to 3.4.

Cycles/Hour

The number of cycles per hour. This value is required to convert failure ratings from failures per cycle to failures per hour.
