Entering MIL-HDBK-217 Standard Connectors
The following table describes the part parameters required for standard connector subcategories when a MIL-HDBK-217 model is selected for the calculation. The subcategories of standard connectors are:
General
IC Socket
PCB Edge
Parameter
Type
Description
Quality Level
Choice List [Parts Count also]
In FN1, not required for the IC Socket subcategory.
The quality screening level used in the manufacturing of the device. Choices are:

# of Active Contacts
Integer [Parts Count also]
Required only for the IC Socket subcategory.
The number of conductive elements in the connector that mate with other elements for the purpose of transferring electrical energy.
Type
Choice List
The type of device. Many different choices are available, including Dual-in-Line Package, Single-in-Line Package, and more.
Contact Gauge
Choice List
Not required for the IC Socket subcategory.
The measurement of the device. Many choices are available, ranging from 12 to 32 gauge.
Amps/Contact
Real (A)
Not required for the IC Socket subcategory.
The average current across a contact in amperes.
[Temperature Parameters]
---
For more information, see Basic Temperature Parameters.
*
For Temperature Rise, if you provide values for Gauge and Amps/Contact, this value is calculated. If you enter a value for this parameter, this value is added to the operating temperature.
[Derating Parameters]
