The base or manufacturer-supplied failure rate. Generally, this field is left at #.# so that the failure rate is calculated based on the values entered for other parameters. If you enter a value for this parameter, this value is used in place of a calculated failure rate.

The type of fluid driver that moves the fluid from the intake to the exhaust. Many different choices are available. When you select the type of fluid driver, the base failure rate is extrapolated as indicated in Base Failure Rate Extrapolations for Fluid Drivers. If you enter the base failure rate directly, any choice list selection is ignored.
