Entering EPRD Part Parameters
The following table describes the part parameters that appear in the Prediction Data pane for an EPRD part. The 217Plus or PRISM model must be licensed to use the Library Browse window to search the EPRD Library. When you use the Library Browse window to insert an EPRD part, the parameter values for this part are shown. For more information, see Inserting an EPRD Library Part into the System File. While you can change the failure rate for an EPRD part, many other values are for informational purposes only. Changing these informational values do not change the part’s failure rate. They are provided only to help you to determine how reliable the inserted failure rate for the part is. For example, a failure rate based on one failure in 100 operating hours is less reliable than a failure rate based on 100 failures in 10,000 hours, even though the rates themselves are identical. When you manually insert an EPRD part in the Parts Table, you must provide the failure rate for the part.
Parameter
Type
Description
Data Source
Edit Box
The data source for the part. For an EPRD part with a merged failure rate, a (Merged Failure Rate) notation appears in this field. Additionally, in the System Tree Items table and Parts Table, (Merged FR) appears for Part Number. For a merged failure rate, if the merged parts have different quality levels, no level is set for Quality. If, however, all merged parts do have the same quality level, then this level is shown for Quality.
Failure Rate
Real
The failure rate for the part per one million calendar hours.
Subtype 1
Edit Box
The subtype for the part.
Subtype 2
Edit Box
The next lower-level subtype for the part.
Quality
Choice List
The type of quality used in the manufacturing of the part. Choices are:
Commercial- The part is of commercial quality.
Military- The part is procured in accordance with military specifications.
Unknown- The quality level of the part is unknown.
Environment
Choice List
The type of surroundings in which the part is to operate in the field. The many choices available are basically those for the PRISM and 217 Plus models. For more information, see 217 Plus Parts Stress and PRISM Environments.
Hermeticity
Choice List
The type of seal. A value is entered in this field only for a part with a seal. Choices are:
H- When selected, the type is Hermetic.
N- When selected, the type is Nonhermetic
U- When selected, the type is Unknown.
Failures
Integer
The number of failures recorded during the recording time indicated in the data source.
Hours
Real
The number of operating hours recorded for the part in the data source.
