Maintainability Theory
The purpose of a maintainability prediction is to provide calculated measures for various aspects of maintenance. Based on the repair information that you supply for components in the system, an accepted maintainability prediction standard can be used to calculate system repair and maintenance measures. By analyzing these measures, you can identify areas for improvement. For example, by minimizing system repair and maintenance times, you can minimize downtime, which increases system availability.
The Maintainability module supports MIL-HDBK-472, Military Standardization Handbook Maintainability Prediction, as well as generic maintenance procedures. This means that you can calculate all maintenance-related measures for Procedures 2, 5A, and 5B. Descriptions of all supported measures appear in Maintainability Calculations.
