Inserting New Fault Tree Levels

Fault trees typically consist of many different levels. To insert a new level in a tree, you can insert a gate either between two gates or between a gate and an event.

1. To insert a new level, do one of the following to open the Insert Gate window:

◦ Right-click the gate or event above which to insert the level and select Insert Level.

◦ Select the gate or event above which to insert the level and select either Insert > Level or FTA > Insert Level.

2. Select the type of gate to insert and click OK to insert the gate for this new level.
