Build Fault Tree from FMEA Window
The Build Fault Tree from FMEA window provides for building a fault tree from a FMEA. The following table describes the options in this window. For more information, see Building a Fault Tree from a FMEA.
Option
Description
FMEA Table item
The unique identifier of the FMEA from which to build the tree. The default is the FMEA selected in the FMEA Table. However, you can select any FMEA in this table. Results should already be calculated for the FMEA that you select. If results are not yet calculated, select Cancel and run FMEA calculations first.
End effect
The end effect that to use as the top event in the tree. You can choose from any of the end effects that appear in the FMEA.
Phase
The phase in the Mission Profile file to take into account. This field is available only if phases have been inserted in the Project’s Mission Profile file. If phases have been inserted, the default is All Phases so that all phases are taken into account. For more information, see Mission Profile Files.
Phase duration
The length of the selected mission phase. This value is used as the mission time for non-repairable events. If no data is entered in the Project’s Mission Profile file, you must supply the mission time to use. If Lambda Tau is selected for the FTA calculation method, the value from the Mission Profile file can be modified.
Prune branches with no events
Indicates whether to exclude branches that contain no events from the tree. When this checkbox is cleared (default), these branches are included. When this checkbox is selected, these branches are excluded.
