Turning FMEA Roll Up Off and On
In the System file properties, FMEA > Automatically roll up Effects controls whether completing the Local Effect field for a failure mode inserts the same text in the Failure Mode field for the next higher item in the FMEA Tree Items table. By default, this checkbox is cleared so that automatic roll up is turned off. You can perform the following steps to switch between turning automatic roll up on and off.
1. From the System file, select View > File Properties. The File Properties window opens.
2. For FMEA > Automatically roll up Effects, select or clear this checkbox to turn automatic roll up on or off.
When this checkbox is cleared (default), automatic roll up is turned off. This means that when you complete the Local Effect field for a failure mode in the FMEA Worksheet table, text is not inserted for the Failure Mode field for the next higher item in the FMEA Tree Items table. If you later select this checkbox, automatic roll up begins from this point forward.
When this checkbox is selected, automatic roll up is turned on. This means that when you complete the Local Effect field for a failure mode in the FMEA Worksheet table, the same text is inserted for the Failure Mode field for the next higher item in the FMEA Tree Items table. If, however, this same mode already exists for the next higher item, a duplicate mode is not inserted.
3. When finished, close the File Properties window.
