Setting Up a FMEA Group File
A FMEA Group file specifies the System files and FMEAs within those files to treat as a single entity for FMEA reporting and graphing. The System files specified in the FMEA Group file must all be in the same Project. You can include any number of System files from those in the Project in the FMEA Group file.
The following procedure assumes that a FMEA Group file is open. You can open or create a FMEA Group file in the same way as any other file.
1. In the last blank row, click in the System column. A browse button appears to the right. A < Select file... > label indicates that a System file is not yet selected.
2. Click the browse button. A window opens for selecting the System file to include in the FMEA Group file. All System files in the Project are listed.
3. Select the System file to insert. If you click < No selection >, which appears at the top of the list, the window closes. Clicking the green checkmark or red X closes the window without changing the selection.
In the record, the name of the selected System file appears for System. When you leave this field, a blank record is added so that you can insert another System file.
4. Click in the FMEA column and click the dropdown control that appears to the right. All FMEAs in the selected System file are shown.
5. Select the FMEA to insert. In the record, the name of the selected FMEA appears for FMEA.
A particular System file/FMEA combination can only be selected one time. If you try to select a System file/FMEA combination that is already included, a window opens, indicating that this FMEA is already in use. After you click OK to close this window, you must then use the drop-down control to select a different FMEA or press Esc to clear the column.
6. When finished specifying the System files and FMEAs to include, close the FMEA Group file. You can now use this file to generate a FMEA report or graph based on the multiple System files included in it. For more information, see Using a FMEA Group File.
You can insert System Name in a FMEA Report Design file. This field displays the names of the specific systems having the data used to generate the report.
