Item Criticality
Item criticality is a calculated results field used in component FMEAs. It is calculated only when a list is attached to Severity in the Project’s Data Definition file. An item criticality is calculated for each severity level. The item criticalities are the sum of the mode criticalities for all failure modes within a particular severity level.
The number of item criticality values corresponds to the number of severity levels defined in the list. For each severity level, the result is a delimited list of criticality values in the following format:
High = 1.2, Medium = 2.3, Low = 3.5
The level of Severity is based on where it is inserted in the FMEA Design file. If this field is inserted in the cause or effect level, then the severity with the maximum value is used. If a list is attached to this field, the list value is used to determine the severity value.
