Inserting an Event Tree Column
When you insert an event tree in the Event Tree Table, the Event Tree Diagram pane displays two columns (events) with success and failure branches (event consequences). You can insert any number of additional columns in the event tree to represent the events or steps in the sequence.
To insert a column to the left of a selected column, do one of the following:
Right-click a column and select Insert Column.
Click a column and then select Insert > Column.
To insert a column after the last column, regardless of which column might be selected, do one of the following:
Right-click a column and select Insert Column at End.
Click a column and then select Insert > Column at End.
When you insert a column to the left of the active column, to the right of the new column, one null branch is inserted for each branch in the column. You must then define each of these branches as either a success or failure in its branch properties. For more information, see Viewing and Modifying Event Tree Branch Properties.
Any time you insert a column at the end of the event tree, branches are inserted based on the selection made for Event Tree On Insert Column Command in the System file properties. For more information, see Event Tree System File Properties.
By default, Insert Both Success and Failure Branches is selected so that one success and one failure branch is inserted. However, you can choose to insert a single null, success, or failure branch instead. You can also choose Prompt for Branch Types, which causes the Insert Column window to open when you insert a column. In this window, when you insert a column, you can specify the type of branches to insert and then click OK. For more information, see Insert Column Window.
