Event Tree Calculate Property Page
When the Calculate command is selected, the Calculate window opens. The Event Tree page specifies information about the event tree calculations to perform. The following table describes the properties on this page. For more information, see Calculating Event Tree Results.
Property
Description
Unreliability/unavailability evaluation
The properties under this heading specify information for calculating event trees.
From start time
The starting time point for the calculation in hours.
Through end time
The ending time point for the calculation in hours.
Number of data points
The number of time points for which to display results, including the start and end times. The default is 11. If the range of time is from 0 to 1000 and the number of data points is 11, 11 calculations run, the first at 0 hours, the second at 100 hours, and the third at 200 hours, ..., and the eleventh at 1000 hours.
Primary time point
The time point for which to display results for consequences when event tree results are shown in the View Calculation Results window.
Calculations
The properties under this heading specify the calculations to perform.
Unavailability
When selected, unavailability is calculated.
Unreliability
When selected, unreliability is calculated.
Cut sets
When selected, minimal cut sets are determined and can be viewed once calculations have been completed. For more information, see Viewing Cut Sets.
*
The next three properties are mutually exclusive. You select one to specify whether you want to calculate frequency.
Do not calculate frequency
When selected, frequency is not calculated.
Unconditional failure intensity (w)
When selected, unconditional failure intensity is calculated. For more information, see Unconditional Failure Intensity.
Expected number of failures (W)
When selected, the expected number of failures is calculated. For more information, see Expected Number of Failures.
Consequences
Under this heading, you select the consequences for which to determine cut sets. For this area to be available, Cut sets must be selected under Calculations. The list on the left includes the consequences that can still be selected. The list on the right includes the consequences that have already been selected.
When clicked, the consequence selected in the list on the left is moved to the list on the right. You can also double-click a consequence in the list on the left to move it to the list on the right.
When clicked, all consequences in the list on the left are moved to the list on the right.
When clicked, the consequence selected in the list on the right is moved to the list on the left. You can also double-click a consequence in the list on the right to move it to the list on the left.
When clicked, all consequences in the list on the right are moved to the list on the left.
Calculate consequences across all Event Tree diagrams
Indicates whether to calculate consequence results over all event trees in the System file. When this checkbox is cleared, results are calculated only for the active event tree in the Event Tree Table. When this checkbox is selected, results are calculated for all event trees in this table. The results for each consequence are weighted according to the value specified in the Weight column in the System file’s Event Tree Table. For a given consequence, the results are the summation of the consequence results per each event tree multiplied by the event tree weight factor.
