Report Section Properties
The following table describes the properties for a report section. For more information, see Viewing and Modifying Report Section Properties.
Property
Description
[Name]
The name of the selected report section, which varies from report to report. This field is display-only.
Can shrink
Indicates whether blank objects are to print in the section. When this checkbox is cleared (default), blank objects are printed. Selecting this checkbox is useful in the Details sections if fields are arranged vertically instead of in columns across the page. Objects directly below any object that is removed are moved up to fill the empty space, and the section is resized to fit the remaining objects. The vertical margin at the bottom of the section is maintained. This means that the distance from the bottom of the last object in the section to the bottom of the section itself is not affected by the resizing.
Hide section
Indicates whether the section is to print. When this checkbox is cleared (default), the section is printed. When this checkbox is selected, the section is not printed. In the Report Design file, the background of a hidden section displays the following pattern:
Keep together
Indicates whether to keep the information for each data grouping on the same page. This checkbox is available only for the Details section. When it is selected (default), an attempt is made to keep the information for each data grouping on the same page. If the data grouping is too large to fit on the current page, it starts on a new page. If the data grouping is larger than a single printed page, page breaks are inserted where necessary when printing. When this checkbox is cleared, a page break can occur anywhere within a data grouping.
New page after
Indicates whether to print information for each item on its own page. This checkbox is available for the Report Header, Details, Group Header, and Group Footer sections. When it is cleared (default) a page break is not inserted after the section. When this checkbox is selected for the Details section, a break is inserted after the information for each item. When this checkbox is selected for other sections, a break is inserted after that section.
New page before
Indicates whether to insert a page break before a section. This checkbox is available only for the Group Header, Group Footer, and Report Summary sections. When it is selected, a break is inserted before the section.
Print group header on each page
Indicates whether to print the group header on each page of the report. This checkbox is available only for the Group Header section. When this checkbox is selected (default), the group header is printed on each page.
*
For supplied MSG-3 reports, this checkbox is cleared. If you create custom MSG-3 reports, you should clear this checkbox. Otherwise, each of the lengthy decision logic diagrams, which are part of the group header, require more than a single page.
Reset page number after
Indicates whether to reset page numbers to 1 after the Report Header. This checkbox is available only for the Report Header. When it is cleared (default), the page numbering is continuous. When it is selected, the page numbering resets to 1 after the Report Header.
Space after section
Indicates how much space in inches to add after the section. The default is 0.0000.
