Program-Specific Files
Program-specific files are in a special format specific to a software program. For example, Microsoft Excel creates a special type of file that is saved with an *.xls extension. When such a file is opened by Microsoft Excel, its format is immediately recognized without the need for conversion. Importing from and exporting to two different types of program-specific files are supported:
Microsoft Excel Files (*.xls)
Microsoft Access Files (*.mdb)
If your source data is in some other file type, you must somehow save or export it to a Microsoft Excel and Access files in one of the following versions: 97, 2000, XP, or 2007. The data to import should be in a single table or worksheet. When multiple tables or worksheets are present, you must specify the one with the data to import. When you export data to a Microsoft Excel or Access file, a file with a single table or worksheet is created.

The Microsoft driver used for the import and export of Microsoft Excel and Access 2007 files does not support Windows 2000. Consequently, if you are running Windows 2000, you are unable to import or export files in the Microsoft Excel or Access 2007 format.
