Print to File Page
The following table describes the properties that appear on the Print to File page in the Report Properties window.
Property
Description
JPEG compression
Indicates whether to compress embedded JPG images when the report is printed to a file. You enter a value from 1 through 10. The default is 10, which means no image compression occurs. While this default yields the highest image quality, it also results in the largest file size. Entering a 9 slightly reduces both the image quality and file size. Entering a 1 greatly reduces both the image quality and file size.
*
A JPG compression value is also specified in the properties for a Report Binder file. When printing the multiple reports in a Report Binder file to a file, the compression values for individual reports are ignored. The JPG compression value for the Report Binder file is used for all reports in this file.
Word 2007 Tabular Format
The properties under this heading indicate whether to include page and group headers when the report is printed to a Word 2007 (*.docx) file.
Include page headers and group headers
Indicates whether to include the fields and labels in report header sections in Word 2007 files. When this checkbox is selected, they are included.
Include page footers and group footers
Indicates whether to include the fields and labels in report footer sections in Word 2007 files. When this checkbox is selected, they are included.
*
When the checkboxes under Word 2007 Tabular Format are selected, the data is placed in a section that contains all non-label text fields into a table, and it places other report objects in the Word document as text boxes or images. While an attempt is made to place fields in the first row of the table, determining which labels belong with which fields is not always possible. The ordering and grouping of data in the Word 2007 file should match that of the original report. Title and Summary sections are not used. If these sections are included in your Report Design files, they typical do not include data that would be placed in tables. All tables in Word 2007 files have external borders. The internal borders in this file should match that of the original table. For any fields that are used as hyperlinks, the URL is shown on the report as a Word hyperlink if the URL begins with any of the following: http://, https://, or www. For more information, see Setting Up a Memo Field as a Hyperlink.
Excel 2007 Format
The properties under this heading indicate whether to include group headers and insert new worksheets for group header changes when a report is printed to an Excel 2007 (*.xls) file.
Include group header fields
Indicates whether to include the fields in group header sections in the Excel 2007 file. When this checkbox is selected, they are included.
Allow new worksheet on group change
Indicates whether to insert new worksheets in the Excel 2007 file for each group header change to simulate the page breaks in the original report. When this checkbox is selected, new worksheets are inserted for each group header change.
*
When the checkboxes under Excel 2007 Format are selected, each report is saved to a separate worksheet inside of a single Excel workbook. The label text for each field is placed on the first line of the worksheet. Records begin on the second line. The Title and Summary sections and all Footer sections are excluded. Including these sections would be inappropriate as the fields in these sections appear for each record. For example, a Group Footer field that is the sum of a field over all records would appear on each row, which would be incorrect.
JPEG
The single property under this heading specifies the resolution for printing a report to a JPEG file.
Resolution (DPI)
Indicates the DPI (dots per inch) to use to create pages when a report is printed in JPEG format. Choices are 72, 150, 300, and 600. The default is 150.
You can change the settings for a report being printed to a Word or Excel 2007 file at the time you print the report. In the Select Report to Print window, clicking Options, which is the button to the right of Print to File, opens a window with the same basic Word or Excel 2007 properties.
