Inserting a Link to a Favorite File
Once you have inserted a Favorites control, you can insert links for opening your favorite Windchill Risk and Reliability files. You can also insert links for opening your favorite Common Library files as long as these files are used in standard Projects.

When a Favorites control is inserted on a global Start page that is assigned to your user group, you can insert links to your own favorite files. However, only you can see the links you insert.
To insert a link to a favorite file, do one of the following:
In the Project Navigator, right-click the file name and select Add to Favorites.
In a Recent Files control, right-click the file name and select Add to Favorites.
From a Favorites control, use the Control Settings Wizard to set up the link:
1. In the control, select Options New. The Control Settings Wizard starts and displays the Select File Type page.
2. For File type, select the type of file for which to insert a link and then click Next. The Select Project Page appears.
3. Select the Project that contains the file and click Next.
If no files of this type reside in the Project, a window opens, indicating this. Click OK to close the window. Select another Project, or click Back and return to step b to select a different file type.
If files of this type do reside in the Project, the Select File page appears. Go to step 4.
4. On the Select File page, select the file to which you want to link and click Next. The Wizard Complete page appears.
5. Click Finish.
The control is updated to display the file name, the Project in which the file resides, and the file type. The file name is the link. You click it to open the file. If the file cannot be opened, a window opens, indicating why this action failed.
For example, assume that the link is to open an RBD Block Library file. If you click this link in the desktop application, the file opens.

If the link is for a Report Design or Report Binder file, clicking it runs the report instead of opening the file for editing. You can insert a link to a Report Design or Report Binder file only in the desktop application, but you can click it to run the report from the desktop application.
