Cutting and Copying a System Tree Item
You can cut and copy an assembly or part in the System Tree Items table using any of the methods provided in the following table. For information about row selection, see Selecting a Row.
Method
Steps
Drag and Drop to Copy as a Sibling or as a Child
1. Click and drag the row with the item to copy until it is over the row where you want to place the copy.
2. To paste the item as a sibling, press and hold down Ctrl. Or, to paste the item as a child, press and hold down Ctrl+Shift.
3. Release the mouse button.
4. Release Ctrl or Ctrl+Shift.
Cut and Paste as a Sibling
1. Right-click the row with the item to cut and select Cut Record.
2. Right-click the row under which to paste the item as a sibling and select Paste Record.
Cut and Paste as a Child (Unavailable for parts)
1. Right-click the row with the item to cut and select Cut Record.
2. Right-click the row under which to paste the item as a child and select Paste As Child.
Copy and Paste as a Sibling
1. Right-click the row with the item to cut and select Copy Record.
2. Right-click the row under which to paste the item as a sibling and select Paste Record.
Copy and Paste as a Child (Unavailable for parts)
1. Right-click the row with the item to cut and select Copy Record.
2. Right-click the row under which to paste the item as a child and select Paste As Child.

The Edit menu also provides commands for cutting, copying, and pasting records. Cutting and copying records places them in the Windows Clipboard. You can paste these records from the Clipboard into a spreadsheet program like Microsoft Excel.
