Creating a Dependent List
A dependent list ties together two lists so that they are related throughout the System files and support files in the Project. The list selection for the parent field determines which items appear in the list for the dependent field. For more information, see Dependent Lists.

Before performing this procedure, you might have to insert custom lists in the Project List Library file. If so, close the Data Definition file and complete the steps in Inserting a List in a List Library File. Then, perform the steps that follow.
1. If the Data Definition file is not already open, then open it.
2. For each parent field, do the following:
a. In the Data Definition pane, select the appropriate table and text field.
b. In the Field Definition pane, locate the List field and select the list from all those enabled List Library files. For more information, see List Library Files.
3. For the dependent field, do the following:
a. In the Field Definition pane, ensure that the List field is empty.
b. Select the Dependent List Definition pane.
c. For Table type, select the table in which the parent field resides.
d. For Data field, select the text field that the parent field is to display. The Parent Choice column displays the lists attached to this field.
e. In the Dependent List column, assign the dependent lists.
4. For each dependent field, do the following:
a. In the Data Definition pane, select the appropriate table and text field.
b. In the Field Definition pane, locate the List field and select the list from all those that are available.
5. For the parent field, do the following:
a. In the Field Definition pane, ensure that the List field is empty.
b. Select the Dependent List Definition pane.
c. For Table type, select the table in which the dependent field resides.
d. For Data field, select the text field that the dependent field is to display. The Parent Choice column displays the lists attached to this field.
e. In the Dependent List column, assign the dependent lists.
6. When finished, close the file.
