Saving Graph Information to a Graph Template File
When you have finished specifying graph options, the Graph Wizard displays the Save Graph Template page. On this page, you indicate whether you want to save information about the graph to a Graph Template file. The information saved includes all wizard settings used to generate the graph, all graph properties, and all data points displayed by the graph.
The < Select file... > label or the name of an existing Graph Template file appears for File name. When you click the browse button to the right, a window opens. In this window, you can select < Create new file > to create a new Graph Template file, or you can select an existing Graph Template file. When an existing file is selected, the settings in it are overwritten with the current settings.
1. Click the browse button to open the window for creating or selecting a Graph Template file. Listed are all enabled Graph Template files in the Common Library. A prefix of (Common) precedes these files to visually indicate that they reside in the Common Library rather than in the Project. Also listed are any Graph Template files in the Project.
To save settings to a new Graph Template file, you select < Create new file > , which is immediately replaced by a < Type new file name here and press Enter >. You then click this command, enter a name for the new file in which to save the current settings, and click the green checkmark.
To save settings to an existing Graph Template file, you select the appropriate file. This closes the window. If the open System file is in an Enterprise Project, you must have the necessary permissions to create or modify Graph Template files in this Project. All permissions are set by your system administrator in the Administrator application.
The name of the file to create or overwrite appears for File name on the Save Graph Template page. If you have made an error, you can click the browse button again and, when the window opens, select the appropriate file. If you select < No selection >, the previous file selection is discarded and the < Select file...> label is shown for File name to indicate a file must be selected.
Once the appropriate file name is shown in this field, you can choose to create a corresponding Report Design file to display this Graph Template file.
2. To create this Report Design file, select Create corresponding Report Design file and choose Portrait or Landscape for the report orientation. Otherwise, leave the checkbox for creating this file cleared.
3. Click Next. The final page of the Graph Wizard appears.
4. Click Finish. If an existing Report Design file has the same name as the Graph Template file that you have saved to a Report Design file, a Copy of prefix precedes the name of the newly created Report Design file.
Once the Graph Wizard closes, a window opens if you must select a particular item, such as a configuration, diagram, item, or object. You make a selection in this window and then click
OK
to generate the graph.
If calculations are necessary, the Generating Graph window opens, displaying the progress made. Once the graph is generated, it opens in the Graph Designer, where you can print or further modify it. For more information, see Graph Designer How-Tos.
