Specifying Options for 3D Plots
For an ALT life data set, you use the 3D Plot Options window to specify X and Y axes options for 3D plots. To open this window, you click the 3D Plot Settings button in the ALT Plot Options pane. This button is shown only when a 3D plot type is chosen.
1. In the data set’s ALT Plot Options select 3D Likelihood Function or 3D Surface Plot as the plot type.
2. To open the 3D Plot Options window, in the data set’s ALT Parameters pane, click 3D Plot Settings.
When 3D Likelihood Function is selected, choices for X axis and Y axis are the slope and model parameters.
When 3D Surface Plot is selected, choices for X axis and Y axis include Temperature, Voltage, and Time.
3. Complete this window, referring to the following table for option descriptions.
Option
Description
X axis
Specifies the variable to plot on the x-axis.
Set X axis minimum
Indicates whether to set a minimum value for the x-axis. When this checkbox is cleared (default), no minimum value is set. When it is selected, the field to the right becomes available so that you can enter a minimum value greater than or equal to 0.
Set X axis maximum
Indicates whether to set a maximum value for the x-axis. When this checkbox is cleared (default), no maximum value is set. When it is selected, the field to the right available so that you can enter a maximum value. This value must be greater than the minimum value. If no minimum value is set, this value must be greater than 0.
Y axis
Specifies the variable to plot on the y-axis.
Set Y axis minimum
Indicates whether to set a minimum value for the y-axis. When this checkbox is cleared (default), no minimum value is set. When it is selected, the field to the right becomes available so that you can enter a minimum value greater than or equal to 0.
Set Y axis maximum
Indicates whether to set a maximum value for the y-axis. When this checkbox is cleared (default), no maximum value is set. When it is selected, the field to the right available so that you can enter a maximum value. This value must be greater than the minimum value. If no minimum value is set, this value must be greater than 0.
Z axis
Specifies the variable to plot on the z-axis when 3D Surface Plot is selected as the plot type. This option is not shown when 3D Likelihood Function is selected. Choices are Reliability, PDF, and Failure Rate.
Time
This option is shown only when 3D Surface Plot is selected as the plot type and Time is not selected as the variable to plot for either the x-axis or y-axis. In this case, you must enter the end time for the plot. The default is 100.
4. Click OK.
