Evaluate Test Plan Pane
Once you have entered input data in the Test Plan pane and calculated it, you can use the additional calculations provided in the Evaluate Test Plan pane to assess the test plan. In the Test Plan pane, you can solve for a confidence level, bounds ratio, or sample size.
The following table describes the parameters that appear in the Evaluate Test Plan pane. For Solve for, you select the value for which to solve. You then supply values for the parameters that are required to solve for it based on the input data in the Test Plan pane.
Parameter
Description
Solve for
The value for which to solve. Descriptions follow for the three choices that are available to you.
Confidence Level. The confidence value to use to calculate the bounds and bounds ratio.
Bounds Ratio. For the time at the specified usage level unreliability, the upper confidence bound divided by the lower confidence bound.
Sample Size. The number of units tested.
The two choices not selected become the parameters for which you must supply values. Choices are:
When Confidence Level is selected, Bounds ratio is the first parameter, and Confidence level is the second parameter. The defaults are 3 and 100, respectively.
When Bounds Ratio is selected, Confidence level is the first parameter, and Sample size is the second parameter. The defaults are 0.95 and 100 respectively.
When Sample Size is selected, When selected, Confidence level is the first parameter, and Bounds ratio is the second parameter. The defaults are 0.95 and 3 respectively.
[Parameter 1]
Depending on the value for which to solve, the first parameter value required for the calculation.
[Parameter 2]
Depending on the value for which to solve, the second parameter value required for the calculation.
[Result]
Shows the result calculated for the value for which to solve.
When clicked, the supplied parameter values and test plan data are used to calculate the result, which is shown in the display-only field to the left.
