Configuring the Web Server
The Windchill Risk and Reliability Web Server supports load balancing.
To configure the Web Server:
1. Ensure your network architecture is valid.
a. Set up the Application Server.
*
This procedure assumes that you are using a single Application Server with both the Object Broker Service and Long Running Task Service running on the same machine. If you are load balancing the Object Broker Service, you must modify clients.config to point to the right locations for the load balancing gateway server, Long Running Task Server, and so on. For more information, see Configuring the Object Broker Service.
b. Have two machines ready to host two Web Servers.
c. Have a load balancing gateway server prepared for the Web Servers.
2. Install all the component of the Enterprise Edition to the Object Broker Server.
3. Configure the Application Server:
a. Create a new Windchill Risk and Reliability database, convert an existing database, or copy a RelEnt.rlx file that points to an existing database to the installation folder.
b. Ensure that all Windchill Risk and Reliability services are started on the Application Server.
4. Install the Web Services component to the first Web Server and then to the second Web Server. When prompted for the directory to the Windchill Risk and Reliability server, enter the UNC path to the installation folder on the Application Server.
5. Set up the load balancing gateway server to refer to both the first and second Web Servers. As explained in Load Balancing Gateway, how you do this depends on the type of load balancer you are using.
The Windchill Risk and Reliability Web Servers are now configured for load balancing.
