Running FTA Calculations
To compute fault tree results:
1. In the FTA Table, select BAT-FIRE.
2. Select System > Calculate, or click the calculate button on the standard toolbar. The Calculate window opens.
3. In the left pane, select the Calculation Selection page if it is not already selected.
4. In the right pane, click Clear All and then select FTA to run calculations only for the FTA module.
5. In the left pane, expand the FTA folder if necessary and select the General page.
Both this page and the Advanced page contain a number of calculation options. The options shown depend on the FTA calculation type selected for the System file. This file is for a time dependent tree.
6. Under Reliability/availability evaluation:
a. For Through end time, enter 30000.
b. For Number of data points, enter 11.
c. For Primary time point, enter 30000.
d. Select Perform exact calculations.
7. Under Calculations:
a. Leave Cut sets selected.
b. Select the following calculations as well:
Reliability importance measures
Unavailability
Unreliability
Frequency
Number of failures
Failure rate
c. Select Calculate all gates.
Your page should now match the one in the following figure.
8. In the left pane, select the Advanced page.
9. For Calculation method, select Exact.
For more information about all options for all tree types, click Help to open the help.
10. Click OK to run the calculations. When the calculations are complete, the View Calculation Results window opens.

You can print your calculation results by clicking Print in the View Calculation Results window. You can also save them to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet by clicking Excel.
11. Click Close when you have finished reviewing results.
To display the results again at any time, you would select System > View Calculation Results. If you have only one module enabled, the results shown are only for this module. If multiple modules are enabled, a navigation pane is shown so that you can select the pages for the results you want to view.
